A large number of people blocked the traffic along the NH17B following a mishap involving a car and two two-wheelers at MES College junction on Thursday.

According to sources, a Verna car, which was proceeding from Vasco to Verna, collided with a Pulsar motorcycle while trying to negotiate a turn at the junction. The car driver lost control and then collided against two two-wheelers that were parked at the junction and then turned turtle.
Sources said a two-wheeler rider had parked his vehicle and had gone to the ATM at the junction.
The injured were shifted to a hospital, but soon the residents of the locality blocked the highway, creating traffic jam. They demanded immediate action and assurance to make the junction an accident-free zone. They also insisted that a traffic police be deployed at the junction.
Verna Police rushed to the site and tried to bring the situation under control.
Sancoale Sarpanch Girish Pillai also arrived at the spot and after assurance from the sarpanch and the intervention of the police, the crowd dispersed and the road was cleared for traffic.
It may be recalled that the citizens of this area had been demanding installing traffic signals at the junction.
