Musical tribute to Fr Bismarque

Addressing mediapersons on this occasion, Ferrao who has previously done Konkani songs like Mai Ge Dhobitalao and Hanv Noko Ami Noko, revealed that the present song Utt Goemkara / Arey Balla is dedicated to the memory of Late Fr Bismarque Dias.
"One day, while I was on the beach, I was missing a lot about Goa. One person used to talk about this and the music but he is no more," Ferrao said, while informing that the present song is all about what Late Fr Bismarque spoke to him and about various issues raised by the departed soul. This, Ferrao said, laid the roots for the concept of the song. Apart from this, the song dwells on aspects such as farming, education, etc. "Fr Bismarque used to sing Arey Balla to fight the irregularities in Goa," he remarked.
Describing his song as a ‘Mash-up Konkani song\', Ferrao said its lyrics have been penned by Jackson Dias while the song itself is a collaboration of four singers - Roque Lazarus, Benny Pinto and Drew Mendes (child artist) and himself. Besides Roque (acoustic guitar) and Ferrao (arranger and composer), the other musicians involved are Armando D\'Cruz (bass), Nixon Soares ( electric guitars), Alacoque Morenas ( backing vocals), Cedric Da Costa (backing vocals), Sebastian Andrade ( percussion programmed and mixing).
The music video was directed by Steve Carvalho while additional video equipment was provided by Sunset Catchers.
"This is a tribute to Fr Bismarque. I met him in Panaji and Margao and even stayed with him for a day," Ferrao informed. "Fr Bismarque loved Goa, its nature and kids." Ferrao said it is his endeavour that this song reaches out to every Goan because of Late Fr Bismarque . "The main motive is that Fr Bismarque has to be remembered all the time," Ferrao stated.
Through the song, Ferrao advises the youth to study well and gain self-confidence and secure their future in Goa itself.
"There may not be a need to go to foreign shores to earn a living if one focuses on their studies and wishes to work in Goa. There are opportunities here for entrepreneurship too," he says.
"My music is all about spreading awareness about the issues in Goa," adds Ferrao, who has a rich experience of almost 23 years in the field
of music.
"The song is sponsored by a friend and well-wisher who wants to support Rodney\'s Roses and Garden Centre in the creation of Konkani music," added Ferrao while expressing happiness at the great response the viral video had received.
Bardroy Barretto, Fr Victor Ferrao, Benny Pinto, Steve Carvalho, Rodney Almeida, Siddharth Karapurkar, Edwin Fernandes, Velrose Pereira, Theo
Rodrigues, Alacoque Morenas, Emmanuel Antao, Arvin Vaz, Jules Goes, Aaryan Rane, Neri Fernandes, Carol Britto, Cedric Da Costa, Lumina Da Costa, and Roque Lazarus, Drew Mendes were also present for the press conference.

How long did it take to put it
together?
A: It took me four months to work on the song, from writing composing, arranging the music, recording the vocals, background vocals, live instruments, mixing the audio and shooting the music video.

The tune marks a shift in your
music. Why is this?
A: My first song Mai Ge Dhobitalao was composed post the death of Fr Bismarque Dias. It was about expressing the anger through a song. The second song Hanv Noko Ami Noko was about the scams in Goa by the previous governments and the current government. Both songs had a message in it and it was great to see them going viral on social media. My music is about spreading awareness about different issues in Goa. After returning and spending time in Goa and coming across some good people who are concerned about this State made me realise that I should play my part too. What is Goa, if we cannot breathe fresh air, drink pure water and consume fresh vegetables and fruits? And thats what led to the third single (mash up) which is a tribute to Fr Bismarque Dias who I believe gave his life for this beautiful State, fighting the irregularities till his last breath.

Tell us more about the tune
A: Utt Goemkara / Arey Balla is a folk / rock easy listening space. One can dance and swing to the groove. As far as the previous songs are concerned it was pure rock and aggressive with a strong message.

Your message to Goans
A: I believe every individual in Goa must play their part in the coming days to preserve what we\'ve got. Fight for your right and don\'t get fooled by the politicians and their supporters. Wake up from deep slumber before you\'ve been sold.
Music is the best form to reach out for the masses. I hope I can help make the required change. At the end of the day it\'s all about the mind and choices we make in life. One cannot expect things around to change without being part of it. Every voice matters.
