FDA Inspector Shweta Desai sealed the products on grounds that the goods are not categorised as a a drug nor a food item.
She also pointed out that the Karnataka-based proprietor violated norms by selling these products.
GOACAN Coordinator Roland Martins, along with human rights activist Lorna Fernandes, inspected the stalls at the exhibition and also came across stalls which were selling gas regulators that are not approved as per the laid down guidelines. He said the stall was immediately shut down in the interest of consumers.
Martins further pointed out that the team came across counterfeit currency counting machines, saying that they have stopped attempts being made to sell the products to cooperative credit societies. "These are all fake currency counting machines. People should beware of these machines originating from Malaysia and packed at Santa Cruz. If at all, societies want to procure these currency counting machines, they should opt for RBI approved models," Martins said.
