Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna trounced Infant Jesus High School, Colva 3-0 to storm into the semi-finals of Salcete Taluka Under-17 Subroto Mukherjee Cup inter school football tournament, at SAG Artificial Turf ground, Fatorda on Tuesday.

Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School dominated the game in both the halves and pushed their opponents back for the major part of the game. However, Infant Jesus High School nearly broke the deadlock early in the game but Malik Torgal could only produce a feeble shot from close range that was easily handled by the rival goalkeeper in the 3rd minute.
After minor hiccups, Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School made a couple of advances into the rival goal area. After persistent forays, Fr Agnel found the goal when Derryl Silva beat the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot in the 10th minute. The early goal boosted the morale of the Verna lads as they piled on the pressure. Within the six minutes of the opener, Alloid Colaco made it 2-0 with stiff
grounder.
Post resumption, Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School continued to dictate terms and troubled the rival defence with constant raids. Dhomacin D'Mello drove the last nail into the rival coffin late in the second half.
In another quarter-final, Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim blanked Fr Basilio Andrade Higher Secondary School, Majorda 2-0. Leo Rebello scored both the goals for Rosary.
