Addressing a meeting organised by the Goa State Haj Committee at Bilal hall, Fatorda, for distribution of passports to those pilgrims embarking on Haj on Monday, July 24, Sardesai also called on the pilgrims to pray for Goa so that it marches ahead towards a bright future.
In the same vein, the TCP Minister also condemned those forces, who, he claimed, are trying to break the social fabric of the country. However, he said all sections of the society are united in Goa. "This is Goemkarponn and Goa has to remain united," he remarked, while claiming that those settling in Goa from outside the State hail Goa's tolerance aspect, even as he called upon the new settlers to also respect Goa's culture.
"We are as committed to Muslims in the same way as we are committed to Hindus and Catholics," he told the audience. Sardesai said Muslims must also get jobs on par with Hindus and Catholics. "We will give justice to everybody and undertake all-round development of the State," he stated, while warning those venturing from outside the State to spoil the atmosphere prevalent in the State. "The government will do whatever and that is our committment," he remarked.
Speaking on this occasion, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaiker, said every religion teaches us to be good human beings. "In Goa, Hindus, Muslims and Catholics stay together and it is the responsibility of all of us to maintain it," he added. "If Goa has to march ahead, we have to stay together," claimed the South Goa MP.
Among those who addressed the gathering included the president of Goa State Haj Committee, Shaikh Jina, who informed that
the second flight to depart from Goa with Haj pilgrims will leave at 8 a.m. He claimed that the government has already handed over the papers clearing the construction of the Haj House. He said he expected the Haj House to fructify by next year.
Industrialist M Ibrahim and Abdul Rehman (Baba) also addressed the gathering.
