Ravi Shastri became the new face of the Indian cricket squad, and on Wednesday, he along with the captain, Virat Kohli went public for the first time in Sri Lanka ahead of a long tour. The press meet made one thing very clear, and as ardent cricket fans who had their fingers crossed, Kohli sounded very positive and enthusiastic to work with Shastri.
The nightmarish episode between Anil Kumble and the captain in Britain, where team India saw one of worst atmospheres in the dressing room due their rift, is now a thing of the past. But after the former ace spinner quit, a number of closed door meets at BCCI where cricket wizards were brainstorming on who would be the next coach, the suspense ended with Shastri emerging as the face to guide team India. For Indian cricket fans, their expectations remain solely on team India's performance, but they are also expecting that ‘Mr fireworks' (Kohli) would finally settle down and build a strong chemistry with Shastri which should ultimately yield positive and match winning results. All eyes will now be on Shastri as he embarks on his second stint at the helm. Much is to be seen on what the former India spinner brings to the table and how best his man-management skills come into play.
