Story: the goan I network | 17th July 2017, 04:45 Hrs

Calangute Sarpanch, Anthony Menezes reassured the concerned fish vendors that panchayat was going to renovate the existing fish market and none of them would be displaced from the market.

MAPUSA\r \rLarge number of fish vendors made their way to the gram sabha on Sunday to seek clarity on the panchayat plans, as they were worried of being shifted. \r“We are only renovating the fish market making some new arrangements. During the renovation work, we will make you sit at some other place. After completion of the work, all of you will be brought back,” Menezes said. \rOne of the fish vendors insisted that the sarpanch give in writing that they would be brought back to their original place. \rA gram sabha member, Anthony D’Souza suggested that a resolution could be passed in the gram sabha that the fish market was \rgoing to be renovated and the fish vendors who will be temporarily shifted will be brought back. \rAssuring the fish vendors, the sarpanch urged them not to fall prey to opposition talks who were trying to misguide them.
