Story: the goan I network | 17th July 2017, 04:44 Hrs

Batting for communal harmony in the village, the Rumdamol Panchayat on Sunday has resolved not to give permission for any madrassa as well as a community centre of the Maratha samaj in the village.

MARGAO\r\rSarpanch Sofia Bi, who chaired the first gram sabha meeting after the recently held panchayat election, told the media that the people have resolved not to give permission for the two proposals in order to maintain communal peace and amity amongst the people. \rSources said that the Goa Housing Board had almost cleared the proposal to allot land for the two \rinstitutions, but now required the NOC from the local Panchayat body. “When the two proposals came up for discussions, the people resolved that the Panchayat should not give any permission on grounds that the proposals should not disturb the peace and amity in the village,” the Sarpanch added. \rThe controversial mobile towers issue also figured at the gram sabha, with a section of the gram sabha favourign the removal of only one towers, while others demanding the demolition of both the towers in the village. “We will soon call a gram sabha to discuss and decide on this issue,” she informed.
