‘Lack of info on GST sending wrong msgs’

In an attempt to create awareness on filing of returns under the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, the All Goa FMCG & Telecom Distributors Association (AGFTDA) along with financial services company, Karvy, has decided to hold a seminar on July 23 about the tools to be used to file monthly returns.

the goan I networkrMAPUSA rr“As all AGFTDA members are grossing turnover in excess of Rs 75 lakh per annum, it is mandatory for them to file GST returns on the government portal on a monthly basis,” said Salim Isani, President of AGFTDA while addressing a news conference in a hotel in Mapusa. rHe said to make its members self-reliant to file their GST returns by themselves AGFTDA was planning to provide them with adequate tools. rAGFTDA has tied up with Karvy which has been appointed as GST Suvidha Provider by the government of India. r“Karvy will provide hardware and software solutions to AGFTDA members making it easier for them to file their monthly returns without any trouble,” Isani said. rKarvy has organized a seminar in Goa on July 23 at Kesarval Hall at 10.30 am wherein the company officials will provide detailed features of the products offered by it. rApplauding the government for introducing GST in the country, AGFTDA said the bold tax reform will give the much-needed boost to the country’s economy and propel it on the path of progress and prosperity. r“The new GST law will not only help in garnering revenue to the government but it will also bring about a lot of transparency in conduct of businesses,” Isani said. rHe said although most businessmen were confident and optimistic about the advantages of GST, there was lot of apprehension about how they will be able to adapt to the changes. rWith an aim to make sure its members were well versed with GST, AGFTDA conducted a number of seminars in all towns in Goa, Isani said. rHe said lack of information among the business class was leading to the spread of wrong message about GST and the seminars conducted by AGFTDA have cleared misconceptions among businessmen. rSenior office bearers of AGFTDA were present at the news conference. Presently, 355 distributors of FMCG, telecom and electrical companies are registered with AGFTDA.
