Woman and security man waylaid in last 24 hrs; police fail to curb the menace

the goan I networkrMARGAOrMargao’s ring road from the Aquem-power house junction to the Margao railway station and further down to the Apollo hospital seems to have become unsafe for citizens and a haven for anti-social activities. r In fact, waylaying of citizens during nights along this stretch of the ring road has been going on over the years, without any breakthrough by the Margao police.rTwo citizens, including a woman from Borim and a security man, realised the bitter truth when unknown miscreants waylaid them in the last 24 hours before decamping with their valuables.rIn the first case, a security man Chandrakant Kamble became the latest victim of the miscreants when he was attacked by four persons Wednesday night at 9.30 pm when he was walking on the road. “The four miscreants stopped me and after attacking me, lifted away my cell phone and wallet containing cash of Rs 500,” he said. rThe anti-social elements returned back on Thursday on the ring road, this time to snatch the chain of a woman from Shiroda, Sushila Patpatti, who had come for a condolence visit. “When I was walking along the ring road at the Apollo hospital, two motorcycle borne miscreants came and snatched my mangalsutra before making good their escape,” Sushila told the media at the Margao police station where she had come to lodge her complaint.rFormer Margao councillor Damu Shirodkar told the media that waylaying and theft cases have been reported from the ring road in the recent past, but the miscreants managed to go scot-free till date.rrr In the first case, a security man Chandrakant Kamble became the victim of the miscreants when he was attacked and robbed of his cell phone and cash of Rs 500 by four persons Wednesday night at 9.30 pm when he was walking on the roadrIn the second case, a woman who had come for a condolence visit from Shiroda was robbed of her mangalsutra near Apollo hospital on Thursday
