MARGAOrrMargao Sports Club dominated the game right from the word go and never allowed their opponents to strike rhythm and called the shots against the rival citadel. Margao SC had a couple of scoring chances but their forwards were erratic after reaching the rival’s danger zone. Post resumption, Margao upped the ante and unleashed a flurry of attacks as their efforts bore fruit 15 minutes after resumption when Necil Pinto slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot off a well measured cross from Christopher Borges. The goal enlivened further, as Margao piled on the pressure and troubled the rival defence with well-orchestrated raids. Clinton Vaz doubled the lead after rival defender brought down Margao striker inside the penalty box and Clinton made no mistake with the resultant spot-kick. rAt the other end,Varca were a subdued lot and looked disjointed as they failed to function as a unit. Cliff Baretto put the issue beyond doubt midway in the second half when his well executed free-kick eluded the Varca goalkeeper. After taking a 3-0 cushion, Margao slackened their pace and allowed their opponents to launch attacks. Joanas Costa managed to reduce the deficit late in the second half.rPlaying today: Sao Jose de Areal SC v United Club of Seraulim, Dando Grounds, rBenaulim, 4.45 pm.
