Desecrations: Cabral threatens protest if cops fail to nab culprits

Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral on Wednesday threatened to protest if the police fail to nab the culprits involved in the desecration of religious structures, niches and gravestones in Curchorem.

the goan I networkrCURCHOREM r rAddressing a news conference in his office at Curchorem, Cabral expressed concern over the act and appealed to the people to maintain peace in the village. r“Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is on a foreign visit and the issue will be discussed with him once he returns to the State,” he said. r“A similar incident had taken place some years ago and I will not hesitate to raise my voice in the assembly session,” he added. r“I have already discussed the issue with the Curchorem PI, SP and DySP and asked them to nab the culprits behind these acts. If the police fails to do so, I will protest on the road against my own government,” warned Cabral. r“CCTVs cameras have been installed at various places at Curchorem and we have learnt that CCTVs are non-functioning when the vandalism incidents took place. The government should look after maintenance of the CCTVs,” demanded Cabral. rCabral, however, appealed to the people to repose their faith in law enforcement agencies. “Our police is capable of solving the issue,” he said. rCurchorem councillor Vishwas Sawant, Assolda Sarpanch Manohar Naik, Curchorem BJP Mandal president Ashok Naik, secretary Rajendra Vast, Agustine Fernandes and others were present during the news conference.
