Another moment has been etched in the history of women’s cricket and it is none other than Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj who has done us proud by becoming the highest run scorer – surpassing England’s Charlotte Edwards’ 5992 and becoming the first woman to breach the 6,000 run mark – in the one day format. Donning the blue jersey since 1999, the captain from Rajasthan has played a number of match winning innings and today holds an important role in the team. After playing under a number of captains, Mithali’s prowess and focus toward the game awarded her the captain’s role.rVery few knew about Mithali. It is not mere ignorance but the obsession which we show toward men’s cricket that has overshadowed any other form of cricket.
