After assisting in the development of the Indian senior women’s team for a long time, Maymol Rocky is finally realising her dream -- she is now the head coach of the national side.

the goan I network\rPanaji\r\rMaymol, a former India international herself, had been an integral part of the team’s backroom staff and was part of the setup that saw the ladies lift a fourth successive SAFF Women’s Championship. The Goan takes over from Sajid Dar, under whom the team produced good results but has slid down the FIFA rankings in recent times, currently ranked 60th.\rMaymol, while speaking to The Goan, expressed great joy at being chosen to helm the national women’s team. “It’s a great honour. I can’t express this feeling in words,” Maymol said, revealing that she was given the letter of appointment by the All India Football Federation around 10 days back. “I’ve always been waiting for this moment. It is one of the best moments of my life,” she said.\rMaymol was previously scouting for talent in the first edition of the Women’s I-League that took place earlier this year. The AFC Pro License holder will now prepare the India ladies in a preparatory camp in New Delhi (July 16-26) before they face Malaysia in back-to-back international friendlies.
