Curchorem council decides to relocate street vendors

The Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) will shift the street vendors in the street vendors shed near GSUDA market on Thursday morning.

the goan I networkrCURCHOREMrrSpeaking to The Goan, CCMC Chief Officer Pramod Dessai said the council has decided to shift the street vendors, who are sitting across town by obstructing the footpaths. “These street vendors will be shifted to the street vendors shed at GSUDA market near KTC bus stand Curchorem,” said Dessai. r“Some days back, CCMC in my presence visited the GSUDA market and it came to light that street vendors were not using their shed and they preferred sitting outside. Hence, to overcome the problem, some special sitting arrangements were promised to the street vendors within some days. On Thursday, CCMC will shift/rehabilitate the street vendors to the street vendors shed,” he said. r“We have also sent a letter to Curchorem police asking for their presence during the shifting to avoid any untoward incident,” added Dessai. rEfforts to contact CCMC chairperson Sushant Naik failed, as he was unavailable.
