President of the Association of All Goa Muslim Jamaat, Shaikh Bashir said that the Hilal Committee met at Darul Uloom Ashrafia at Verna and declared the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday. “The Hilal Committee met in Verna and after deliberations and confirmations of sighting of the moon in most parts of the State, has declared that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday in Goa,” he added.
Extending Eid greetings to Goans, Bashir said, “I wish all Goans Eid-ul-Fitr Mubarak and pray for the welfare and good fortune of the State.”
Goa president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Abdul Wahid Khan wishing the people of Goa on the occasion of Eid said, “It is an opportunity for all of us to strive to promote unity of mankind for peace and harmony. He described Goa to be like a beautiful flower bouquet which needs to be preserved and cared for by all.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar extended greetings to Goans on the occasion of Id- ul- Fitr.
In his message, Parrikar has said, “On the joyous occasion of Id, I am extremely delighted in wishing all my Muslim brothers and sisters a blissful Id after a month-long holy Ramadhan.”
Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao in his message has stated, “On behalf of the Catholic community in Goa and on my own, I have great joy in greeting our Muslim sisters and brothers on the occasion of their festivity of Eid-ul-Fitr.
“We join them as they pray for God’s forgiveness, mercy, peace and blessings for all living beings across the world and we extend our hands in solidarity, together to promote genuine justice, lived in friendship with God.
The Governor, Dr Mridula Sinha too extended greetings and wishes to the people of Goa especially the Muslims.
