Kamat calls for freedom fighters’ gallery

In order to disseminate information about the role and sacrifices of the freedom fighters in Goa’s freedom struggle, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat endorsed the need for a freedom fighters gallery which was also voiced by some veteran freedom fighters in Margao at a similar function held in the morning.

Addressing a gathering organised by 18 June Kranti Din Samiti in Margao on Sunday, Kamat complimented the Samiti for having organised such a function while claiming that such functions help inculcate the importance of the Revolution Day among the children.   
Kamat hoped that participation of students and parents in such programmes would witness an upward trend in the near future.   
Earlier, prominent personailties were felicitated by Kamat for their stellar contribution to the society. They included Dr Anand Samant, Dr Mohammad Ehsan, Vimal Shirodkar (Home Guard) and Savio Dias (journalist and social activist).   
Those who spoke on the occasion included the president of the samiti and MMC councillor Avinash Shirodkar. Additional Collector Roncon Pereira, president of Freedom Fighters Association Pandurang Kunkolienkar, secretary Waman Prabhugaonkar and Vinayak Mordekar were among others who were present on the dais. Navnath Khandeparkar and Rajani Raiker compered the function.   
Earlier, drawing competition, essay writing competition and partiotic song singing competition were also held to mark the occasion.
