Heavy showers on Thursday evening left the road and pavement right in front of the Margao Municipal building flooded, even as rain water inundated the station road, disrupting traffic movement.

The road in front of the MMC building was water-logged even as water was gushing out from the chamber of the storm water drain along the municipal garden.
Questions are being raised as to how water from the storm water drain came gushing out of the chamber, with MMC workers indicating that the underground drain must have been choked at some point around the garden.
At the station road, shopkeepers complained that it has been the familiar story, with heavy rains inundating the road yet again during the monsoon. The shopkeepers, however, got a big relief after the rains subsided later in
the evening.
“The authorities, including the Margao municipality, have not found a solution to the flooding problem witnessed on the station road till date. Water-logging was rampant today when the city was lashed by heavy showers. Just imagine the situation when the rains hit the city with all its fury,” remarked
a shopkeeper.
