High scorers aspire to become doctors, scientists

With Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education announcing the SSC results on Thursday,

The Goan speaks to some of the high scorers.   
Nitya Kamat of A J de Almeida High School has secured a pass percentage of 96.83 per cent. Kamat aspires to be a doctor.   
“I have already joined GVM’s PACE Higher secondary. I aspire to be a doctor but I have taken both subjects biology and mathematics and kept all options open,” she said.   
She has scored 99 each in Mathematics, Social Science and Science, 98 in Sanskrit, 95 in Hindi and 91 in English.   
Tejal Shetty of S S Samiti High School, Dhavali, Ponda has secured 96.7 per cent at SSC Examination. 
Shetty aspires to be a scientist and work for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).   
Speaking to The Goan, Tejal said, “I have already taken admission for Science stream at Alva’s Institute, Mangalore. I want to take up aeronautical engineering as far as higher studies are concerned.”   
While she scored 100 marks in Science, she secured 93 each in English and Hindi, 98 in Sanskrit, 99 in Social Science and 97 in Mathematics.   
Sneha Gaonkar, a student of People’s High School, has secured pass percentage of 96.5 per cent at SSC Examination. Gaonkar aspires to be a doctor.   
“I want to continue with the same school, so will be taking admission in People’s Higher Secondary School and after passing XIIth I want to go for medical,” she said.  Sneha has secured 100 marks in Mathematics, 99 each in Science 
and Social Science, 98 in Sanskrit, 93 in Hindi and 90 in English.
