Hosts Raia FC trounced Margao Sports Club 3-1 to cruise into the quater-finals of All Goa FC Raia Cup inter village football tournament organised by FC Raia at Raia grounds on Sunday.

Backed by a voiceferous home crowd, Raia FC dominated the game and troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Wilfred Gomes nearly came close in breaking the deadlock in the 6th minute but his long ranger was well parried away by Margao Sports Club goalkeeper Ryan Araujo. At the other end, Margao Sports Club did not lag behind and Melvan Furtado tested the rival goalkeeper Guilherme Gomes with a stiff shot. Once again, Margao Sports Club had another chance but rival defender Daniel Gomes thwarted Francis Andrade’s left-footed drive in the 23rd minute. Margao Sports Club brokethrough in the 23rd minute when Minguel Baretto beat the rival goalkeeper with an adroit placement. Unfazed Raia FC went into attacking mode and Roman Gomes picked up the ball from Daniel Gomes and the former’s shot missed the target narrowly. Post resumption, Raia FC were a dominant lot and pressed more men upfront and launched a string of attacks. Persistent forays paid off when Oilex Olveira cancelled the lead in the 37th minute. The equalizer boosted the morale of Raia team as they upped the ante on the rival goal. Bosco Rodrigues who was in the thick of action regained the lead in the 44th minute. In the 58th minute, Bosco Rodrigues struck a second time to seal the rival fate and record his brace in the 58th minute. Raia FC will meet Cuncolim Union in the quarter-finals on May 25.
