They needed a win to improve their position and they achieved it by defeating Curtorim Gymkhana 2-1 in the GFA First Division League at DYSA grounds , Curtorim on Wednesday.
Hanslum Furtado (13’) scored for Curtorim before Kanchan Kiro (18’) and Manesh Oliveira (81’)     staged a comeback win.
Backed by the home crowds, Curorim  Gymkhana  were off to a flying start and in the 13th minute striker Hanslum Furtado headed home off a flag-kick.Stung by that setback, Paroda took the fight to the rival camp and their efforts bore fruits in the 18th minute when hardworking  Kanchan Khiro headed home giving no chance to the rival goalkeeper.
The equalizer boosted  the morale of Paroda team as they used the width and pace on the flanks as they started probing the Curtorim Gymkhana citadel. Paroda winger Hyginus Fernandes sped down the rival flank and his curling shot lacked the power to test the Curtorim Gymkhana goalkeeper who managed to collect the ball at ease.
A the other emd, Curtorim Gymkhana lacked the conviction in their build-up and never really threatened the Paroda goal. Paroda nearly regained the lead late in the first half but Kanchan Khiro’s header was parried away by the Curtorim Gymkhana goalkeeper. And Kanchan came close again when his headed effort from a Clide Travasso free-kick had to be tipped over the bar by the Curtorim custodian.
Post resumption , Paroda continued to probe and nimble away at the Curtorim Gymkhana defence. However, Curtorim had a chance to put his team in front but striker Nelson Fernandes muffed a sitter with only rival goalkeeper Presley Mascarenhas to beat. He shot wide much to the dismay of home supporters. The scene shifted as both the teams showed urgency as a result there were thrills at either end. Curtorim Gymkhana’s Hanslum Furtado tested  Paroda goalkeeper Presley with a decent shoot and the latter brought up superlative saves to deny him from scoring.
Meanwhile, a fine brace by Samuel Costa guided Salgaocar Colts to a comprehensive 5-0 win over Panjim Footballers in the GFA First Division League at Don Bosco Grounds, Panaji on Wednesday.
Salgaocar Colts started the game in  a whirlwind fashion and took the lead through a self goal. Salgaocar piled on the  the pressure on the Panjim citadel and their efforts paid off when Lalit Tariyal dribbled his way past the defenders and set up Devendra Murgaokar to make it 2-0  at the stroke of lemon break.
Panjim Footballers came back more organized after the cross over.Striker Samuel Costa harried the rival territory  and in the 68th minute converted the spot-kick after his teammate Lalit was brought down by rival goalkeeper to give his team a 3-0 cushion.
When everything seemed done and dusted Samuel blasted home from the edge of the box to make it his second the team’s 4th of the day in the 90th minute, 0-4. And just as the match came to a close Stephen Satarkar was set up by Jason Barbosa to make it 0-5.
