The state government’s department of craftsman training had earlier invited proposals from industry associations like CII, GCCI, GSIA and GPMA for upgradation of government ITIs in Goa under the PPP mode under the central government scheme. However the state government received only one proposal -- that of SITE to operate the government run ITI at Vasco da Gama.
This was back in 2007-08 and under a scheme announced by the Union Finance Minister announced a scheme for upgradation of 1396 government ITIs into centres of excellence in specific trades and skills through the PPP mode. The state government has now approved the adoption of the revised agreement for further implementation of the central government scheme.
