It’s not as bad as it appears to be, maintains Dr Geeta Kakodkar

North Goa District Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Geeta Kakodkar has claimed that apart from some repair work, the hospital was extending excellent service to the public.

MAPUSA:
“Except for some repairs in the administrative building, all other sections are working satisfactorily in the hospital,” Dr Kakodkar said.
She said her topmost priority was to get the STP and the chiller (A/C unit) to function before the monsoon.
“The estimates for STP have been drawn by the PWD. Once we get the administrative approval from the government, the work will be tendered,” she said.
A full incinerator unit was installed in the district hospital when it was constructed but surprisingly the incinerator never functioned from day 1, hospital sources said.
Dr Kakodkar said medical waste generated in the hospital was being treated as per the stipulated guidelines and that which has to be incinerated was sent to GMC. “I have asked the government to replace the defunct incinerator with a total new unit,” she said.
