A curious air hangs over Bogmalo beach this summer. Heavy metal fans get set for what is expected to be one of Goa’s biggest rock festival.
John’s Seagull bar and restaurant, Bogmalo in association with Hyperbrane Designs have organised Summer Shred Goa 2017 - a summer heavy metal festival. The huge action-packed event , with an enviable roster of eight of Goa’s hottest rock acts, will take place on Friday, April 28. It’s going to be hot, and we’re not talking about the weather.
The bands in attendance will belt out tunes that fall into a variety of genres within heavy metal and hard rock, including alternative metal, Djent, progressive metal and glam rock. The ‘shredding’ begins at 3:30 pm with some glam rock by the boys from Broadway, followed soon by the Three Horsemen who will take it up a notch with some hard rock. “Our music is a combination of grunge and hard rock. For years we have been looking for a concert/ festival to deliver our music to the youth of Goa. With Summer Shred we can do exactly that!”, said Ashvajit Mahalunkar, of The Three Horsemen.  Coming in third in the lineup is Metamorphosis. Having deep roots in hard rock, they have now transitioned into metal.
As the sunset draws close, Reeves, introduces a surprising change in tempo with a new wave of ambient and electronica. “Finally a festival that brings forth the young blood in Goa! This is an ambient and electronica project that resonates with those who live and breathe the genre. Summer Shred will bring these people together,” said Royston D’souza of Reeves.
Later that evening, the bands FIB and Electric Pulse will play some high octane tunes within the retro and hard rock genre. What follows is Goa’s foremost rock bands – Bad Blood. One of Goa’s Oldest rock acts, Bad Blood has toured across India and Europe, and have set the bar for upcoming bands.
Within Ceres will bring the sets to a close. Having their influences in Djent  (a style of progressive metal) and heavy metal, Within Ceres, will play a combination of the two. They have a huge following among the metal community having played shows in Mumbai and Bangalore and will perform some of their originals at the show. “Our music is a combination of Djent and progressive metal and our sound shares elements of symphonic metal to modern metal. Summer Shred will set the bar for future live alternative music festivals,” added Orin De Sa of Within Ceres
Stating that they have got a good response so far ,the organisers add that this is a chance for heavy metal heads to enjoy themselves.
“Holding an event to he highest musical standards was a dream we all shared. Through this event we hope to create a live music platform for new and upcoming bands to showcase themselves,” said  Brendon Pinto of Hyperbrane Designs.
