A 27-year-old police constable from Sakhali, attached to Margao police station, died after his motorcycle rammed into a roadside tree at Par-Usgao on Wednesday morning.
According to Ponda Police, the accident occurred at about 8.45 am, when the police constable, Vasudev Naik was proceeding to join duty. Naik apparently lost control of the motorcycle and rammed into a roadside tree. He sustained injuries to his head and succumbed on the spot.
Police Inspector Sudesh Naik confirmed that the deceased police constable met with self accident after the motorcycle rammed into a roadside tree.
After receiving information, Ponda Police rushed to the site and conducted panchanama. Ponda Police is investigating the case.
Sources informed that Naik was not wearing his helmet at the time of the accident and had instead secured it to ‘saree guard’ of the motorcycle.
