Khaunte was speaking to media persons after launching the work to hot-mix the service road at Porvorim. Penha-da-Franca panchayat members were also present.
“Work on the service road began in 2013 and it was to have been completed within a year. However, construction began on the third Mandovi Bridge and the service road received a setback,” said the minister.
“The work to hot-mix the 1.2-km service road is now being done at a cost of Rs 2.03 crore.”
“Key projects such as the market complex and multi-purpose sports complex at Socorro which were started in 2013 are yet to be completed. My priority is to complete these projects as soon as possible, before I can take up new projects such a fire station, etc,” Khaunte added.
Commenting on the ban of alcohol sales along 500 metres of the national and state highways, Khaunte said it was a serious issue that would affect the livelihood of thousands of Goans.
“The lives of thousands of Goans would be affected with the implementation of the Supreme Court order. I am confident that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will find a solution and solve this issue,” said Khaunte. Zilla Panchayat member Gupesh Naik also spoke on the occasion.
