Interestingly, some restaurants in Agonda and municipal beaches at Palolem, Patnem have already begun putting up boards informing their customers that their premises would be shut till 1 pm on Friday to show solidarity with the family of
the victim.
A few residents met at the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) hall to review arrangements and released another appeal to shut down businesses for half day and to attend a meeting at Chaudi at 10.30 am to condemn the heinous act and show solidarity with the tourists visiting
Canacona beaches.
Sandesh Telekar, Shantaji Dessai, Simon Rebello and Vallabh Pai said they want everyone to attend the meeting to pay their respects and condolences to late
Danielle McLaughlin.
“Let’s cut across political lines, if any, and join us for the meeting on Friday morning,” Rebello said.
Added Telekar: “The meeting is to condemn the murder of Danielle at Dumane and its impact on Goa in general and Canacona in particular. We appeal to people to join in large numbers to show to the world that there are lot of good-hearted people out here who do not approve of
killing anyone.”
