CANACONA
Seeking to deliver on his poll promises, Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes has begun efforts to streamline essential services in Canacona.
Fernandes on Monday invited officers from PWD (water supply) and WRD (Irrigation) at Government Rest House at Shristhal and discussed various modalities to ensure that Canacona residents get proper water supply during the summer season.
During the discussion, Fernandes was informed that many works pertaining to water supply were pending due to non-payment of bills by the government.
He then directed officials to utilise all the available resources like unutilised overhead water tanks and pipelines to streamline water supply.
“The Dapot project in Loliem and an underutilised overhead water tank at Agonda need to be addresses at the earliest,” Fernandes told the officers.
While Fernandes proposed a mini dam in Poinguinim, WRD officers informed that the Gaunem dam in Gaondongrim had 8 metres depth of water storage.
PWD (water supply) officers informed they are filling up the shortage of water supply through pipelines by sending water tankers in most localities.
“Do all that you can so that people do not suffer,” Fernandes told the officers.
Superintendent engineer Shrikant S Dhond, executive engineer Anthony Mathew, Canacona WRD AE Krishnakanth S Patil, AE Azad Vernekar, AE Kindelkar, JEs Allabhaksha, Priyesh Namshikar, Kishore Kanvar, Gaurish Velip, besides Canacona PWD (water supply) AE Lester D’Souza, Pradip Pagi, Santosh Phadte and Deepraj Madkarkar were present for the meeting.
