Danielle murder case: Dublin conducts 2nd post-mortem

A second post-mortem on the body of Danielle McLaughlin (28), the British-Irish woman who was raped and murdered in Canacona, is reported to have been conducted in Dublin, on Monday.

According to a post in an Irish local daily ‘Donegal Now’, the second port-mortem on the body of McLaughlin has taken place in Dublin and further tests are now due to take place in Belfast, before the body will be taken to her home town of Buncrana for final rites.  
“The results of the second post-mortem will be known in the coming days,” added the post.
“It is hoped that Danielle’s remains could be back in Co Donegal by Monday or Tuesday at the latest, depending upon how long it takes for the new medical treatment to be carried out,” states another post. However, no firm arrangements have yet been made for Danielle’s funeral.  
When McLaughlin’s nude body was found in Canacona, the first post-mortem was conducted by a panel of doctors at the GMC and showed she had suffered cerebral damage and constriction to the neck.  
Danielle (28) is the eldest among her five sisters and had reportedly preferred to travel to India for the sake of yoga, against travelling to Canada.  
Quoting her mother, one of the posts stating the family is not happy of the investigation in India said: “I wish my daughter had gone to Canada.”  
It may be recalled that police arrested a 23-year-old history sheeter, Viket Bhagat for the alleged rape and murder, while Danielle’s body was flown to her home country with the assistance of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust last Friday.  
Meanwhile, the accused in Canacona Police custody on Monday was produced before JMFC, Canacona after his second instinct of police remand got over on Monday. JMFC remanded Bhagat to judicial custody, informed Canacona Police.
