One day, one ride

On March 26, scooter and motorcycle riders from across Goa and local motorcycle owner groups are participating in a rally to promote road safety. The rally’s second edition will start at Verna

There are a large number of biker enthusiasts in the state and it is common to see large group of bikers roaming on the highway on weekends. However, it is also common to hear about accidents on these roads and this brings about a sense of caution.  
To promote road safety, a unique event called ‘One Day, One RIde’, was conceptualized by Praveen K Shivarajan, chief engineer from Chicalim, Vasco and it was brought to existence in 2016 with the help of all the motorcycle enthusiast of Goa state. All class of scooters and motorcycles are welcome for this rally that will start and end at Verna industrial estate and will ride to Miramar via the Goa University road. The event will ensure that all riders follow safety protocol from wearing helmets and safety gear to following a strict dress code. “This event will give all an opportunity to learn the minute details of riding, science behind handling the bike, hard braking, tunnel vision, cornering, negative horsepower, how to avoid riders a block, riding in the rain, loose mud encounters on road, how to react, basic motorcycle know how, emergency repairs and fixes etc. This event is an platform for all to learn from each other and enjoy the pleasure of a being a part of a ride team,” said Pravin.  
The organisers added that they see the event as creating self awareness and in turn keeping everyone on the road safe. Some of  the motorocycle owner groups taking taking part are Harley Owners Group Goa, Biker Babes Goa, GEARS Goa, Goa Superbikers, GOANS, Group of all Nobel Superbikers, Tripperz Goa, Team MOTO HDZ, Rev Limiter, Being Riders, Royal Enfield Riders Club, Royal Enfielders Of Goa, Goan Stallions, Goa Trailriders and Enfielders Goa.
