Addressing a public meeting in the Mala area of Panaji alongside Kapil Mishra the Delhi government’s tourism minister, Naik spoke of how at the final stages of the race, voting for either the BJP or the United Goans Party candidate would not only be a vote for the same old faces but also because, Monserrate has in the past, and could in the future align with the BJP.
“The time of the BJP has come to an end. They have ruled this city for the last 24 years and nothing has changed. Panaji was one of the best cities in the country and was perhaps one of the first planned cities in the country,” Naik said as he lamented how the city has suffered at the hands of politicking between the ruling MLA and the Corporation of the City of Panaji.
The meeting saw around 120 people gather in the Mala quarter of Panaji and got its fair share of curious onlookers and tourists who were also eager for a political conversation.
He promised to work for the development of the city and promised to help the heritage city achieve its tourism potential and to work in coordination with the elected council in order that the city does not suffer.
Adding his bit, Mishra spoke of the achievements of his government in Delhi and taunted Modi for his decision on the note ban and the infamous video of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar almost begging to be acknowledged by the Prime Minister when he was down in Goa.
Several others spoke on the occasion including former Panaji municipal councillor Patricia Pinto, Dr Oscar Rebello and activist Anand Madgavkar all of whom pledged to put their weight behind the Aam Aadmi Party.
