With conflicting reports on the Congress-Goa Forward Party alliance coming in from Delhi on Sunday and AICC General secretary in-charge of Goa Digvijaya Singh arriving in Goa on Monday, the Fatorda block Congress committee is keeping all options open, including fielding a candidate in the event the Congress leaves the Fatorda seat for GFP mentor Vijai Sardesai
Fatorda block president, Joseph Silva, who was told by state Congress president Luizinho Faleiro on Saturday to kick start his campaign for the seat, said he has called on party supporters as well as well-wishers seeking their support for his candidature. “I have received good and encouraging response for my candidature since the time Faleiro told me to start my campaign”, he said.
While saying that he is optimistic that the Congress would not betray him at the eleventh hour, Jospeh, however, said the Congress workers will weigh various options in the event of a tie-up with the GFP. The Fatorda block congress president had last week decided to contest on a party banner in the event the Congress compromise on Fatorda by allotting the seat to the GFP mentor Vijai Sardesai.
