Delhi MLA Adharsh Shastri on Thursday said there was no cash crunch in the country but there was shortage of politics of “saaf niat” (good intention).

“For traditional parties, politics is another name for muscle power and money power. For the last 60 years, these politicians belonging to traditional parties have looted the nation. We need to change this. We need to introduce politics of 'niat' (intention) and only Aam Aadmi Party can do that,” said Shastri, who is the grandson of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Shastri was addressing a public meeting of AAP in Mapusa in the presence of the party's Mapusa candidate, Shardha Khalap, party co-ordinator, Yogesh Kelkar, Vency Viegas, Alzira Almeida and Julie Menezes.

Speaking further, he said traditional politicians have failed to look after people’s welfare and have only focused on personal welfare.

He criticised both the present BJP-led government and the Congress who were in power in the past for trying to fool the public. “The same musical chair politics is going on between BJP, Congress and Independents. If AAP comes to power, things will get hot for these conventional politicians,” he said and urged the gathering to vote for change and to spread the word around.

He said the fate of the State was in the hands of the people of Goa and urged them to be flag-bearers of this change. “We need to fight against corruption and bad politics. This can be done solely with the participation of the people,” he said.

AAP’s South Goa convenor Vency Viegas said Salcete always brought change in governments in the State and they would do the same this time around. “In 2012, we brought BJP to power but it turned out to be a big disaster. It’s time to throw BJP, old man, out and elect new and young face in the form of Shradha Khalap in Mapusa,” he said.

Party co-ordinator, Yogesh Kelkar, Vency Viegas, Alzira Almeida and Julie Menezes also spoke on the occasion.

Time to bring change in Mapusa: Khalap

MAPUSA: AAP's Mapusa candidate Shardha Khalap said time has come to save Mapusa and throw out the local MLA who has failed to perform for the last 20 years.

“What has Mapusa received for the last 20 years besides getting the same MLA? There are no proper roads. Mapusa has a good market but no parking place. Sanitation is very poor and the list goes on …,” Khalap said while addressing the meeting and exhorting the gathering the need to bring a change in Mapusa.

She further said in many parts of Mapusa people did not get basic necessity like water and residents were forced to take water from water tankers.

“A water tanker mafia was operating in Mapusa and we need to stop this,” she added.
