VISHWAJIT IN TWO BOATS!

* Social networking handles of Sattari Yuva Morcha hail Vishwajit Rane as the group’s supremo

* But Vishwajit continues to stick to his stand that he is not associated with the Morcha

* He pledges his allegiance to Congress in an attempt to reassure the top leaders of the party

* One of the recent posts by the group on Twitter and Facebook carries a photo of Vishwajit Rane

Sattari Yuva Morcha, a cultural group from Sattari and another Poriem-based outfit Goa Nationalist Party are in the process of being registered with the Election Commission of India (ECI) as political parties under Section 29 A of Representation of People Act, 1951.

The two groups from Goa feature in the list of 22 presently under consideration by ECI for formal registration as political parties.

ECI has sought objections from general public to these two applications with the last date for filing objections being set on December 19.

Sattari Yuva Morcha, in its application to ECI, has named Umlo Gawade as its president while also stating that its headquarter is based at Guleli, Sattari. Anand Vitthal Parab has been listed as the secretary of the party and Tulshi Navelkar has been named as its treasurer.

Public notices seeking objections to both the applications were published in two newspapers on November 17 and 18.

Meanwhile, Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane continues to stick to his stand that he is not associated with the Sattari Yuva Morcha while also pledging his allegiance to Congress in an attempt to reassure the top leaders of Congress of his presence at the upcoming Assembly polls.

However, despite his oft-repeated public declaration that Sattari Yuva Morcha is not his baby, the Valpoi MLA’s official member profile on the Goa Legislative Assembly website lists ‘President and Founder of Sattari Yuva Morcha’ among his social and cultural activities.

This aberration aside, the social networking handles of Sattari Yuva Morcha are not short of hailing Rane as the group’s supremo. One of the recent posts by the group on Twitter and Facebook was a photo of Valpoi MLA Rane with the quote, “We at Sattari Yuva Morcha believe in the power of its leaders, it is only when individuals have faith in its leaders will the nation progress for the better #SattariYuvaMorcha.”
