Calangute Assn prevail over Areal
MARGAO: Calangute Association prevailed over Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 6-5 via tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of Varca Panchayat Cup inter village football tournament organised by Varca Sports Club at Varca football grounds on Saturday. Calangute Association were leading 1-0 at the breather. Calangute Association started the game on a positive note and took an early lead in the 2nd minute through Aniket Mandrekar. The early goal boosted the morale of Calangute Association as they mounted pressure on the rival goal but their forwards misfired from close range. Crossing over, Areal put up an improved display and attacked the rival goal. In the 55th minute,Prisco Moura neutralized the lead with a stiff grounder. The teams were tied 1-1 in regulation time. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Pedro Gonsalves,Raj Kumar Naik, Ashley Lobo, Joaquim Gonsalves and Deep Govekar were on target for Calangute Assocaition while Aggio Antao, Prinson Dias, Aliston Camaro and David Colaco found the mark for Areal SC. Aniket Mandrekar of Calangute Association was adjudged man-of-the-match.
Dicarpale edge Rossman
MARGAO: Dicarpale SC scored a hard fought 3-2 win over Rossman Cruz Nagoa SC to enter quarter-finals of Fr Gervasio Pinto inter village football tournament organized by Guardian Angel SC Curchorem at Figuiredo grounds on Saturday. Both teams were tied 1-1 at the breather. Joel Colaco opened the scoring for Dicarpale in the 12th minute. The lead was short lived as Benestton Baretto equalized for Rossman three minutes later. In the second session,Valmiki Miranda again gave the lead to Dicarpale which was cancelled by Benestton Baretto. The all-important goal for Dicarpale was scored by Leassar Raicar at the fag end of the match.
Paroda down Davorlim
MARGAO: ICSC Paroda defeated Sporting Club Davorlim 2-1 to move into the last eight stage of the Jose Bento Furtado memorial inter village football tournament organized by Navelim Villagers Union at Rosary grounds, Navelim on Saturday. Manish Oliviera and Patrick Lima scored for ICSC paroda while Clinton Rebello reduced the margin for Sporting Club Davorlim.
Football camp, open tourney at Cansaulim
PANAJI: Mexico Boys of Cansaulim Sports & Social Club, Costa Waddo will organise a football camp for boys and girls in the age group of 10 to 14 years at Cansaulim Sports Complex. The camp will be held from November 3 to 13. This is a free camp but the parents will need to fill a form and the children should wear football shoes, shin guards, jerseys and carry drinking water.
