Navy denies assault, says ‘stripper’ fell off his bike while fleeing

Stating that media reports had been factually incorrect, the Navy has also sought to claim that a counter FIR had been filed to falsely accuse the five naval personnel of having assaulted the youth.
Putting forth its version of events, a Navy press note stated that the girl, who is the daughter of a naval personnel, was returning home from school on October 18, when she was accosted by the accused man near SMRC hospital, exhibiting obscene gestures.
“The man stripped his trousers and followed the girl as she ran home. The girl’s mother filed an FIR at Vasco Police Station against the then unidentified man.”
“The following morning, five personnel of Naval Police, including her father, visited the scene of incident accompanied by the girl. The girl identified the accused man, who was waiting at the same spot on his motorcycle,” stated the Navy press note.
“Upon seeing the naval personnel along with the girl, the accused started fleeing on his bike. As the naval personnel pursued to apprehend him, the accused hit the road divider at high speed and fell on the road, sustaining injuries. The suspect was nabbed and handed over to Vasco police station.”
“Later, he was identified as Atul Bicholkar (25) of New Vaddem, Vasco. A counter FIR falsely accusing the five naval personnel of assaulting the youth has been filed by the mother of the accused on October 19. The case is presently under investigation by Vasco Police,” the Navy press note added.

Navy personnel will be
arrested shortly, says PI

VASCO: Vasco police on Thursday investigated the site where a man was allegedly assaulted by five naval personnel, a day after he had reportedly stripped in front of a naval officer’s 14-year-old daughter at Chicalim.
Vasco police said a team had visited the site and also attached the motorcycle of the alleged stripper, Atul Dicholkar, and were in the process of attaching the naval vehicle used by the five naval personnel.
When asked why they had failed to arrest the five naval personnel -- Commandant Anup Sharma (41), LPM Amit Kumar Singh (29), LPM Jitendra Singh (24), LPM Rajnesh Pachar (34) and RPO Shamlal Pakshak (30) -- Vasco Police Inspector Sagar Ikoskar said the accused would be arrested shortly. “We first want to complete all police formalities. By Friday all five naval personnel will be arrested,” said PI Ikoskar.
On Tuesday at around 2 pm, Dicholkar had allegedly stripped in front the minor girl while she was returning home. The next afternoon, five naval personnel located Dicholkar and assaulted him near the Chicalim ground, before handing him over to the Vasco police.
