This high profile meet will bring head of states and delegates of countries like Brazil, Russia, India, China and South-Africa to Goa.
The Leela Goa, Taj Exotica and Park Hyatt Goa Resort & Spa were expected to be packed as these hotels would be accommodating dignitaries and delegates for BRICS summit. But, interestingly, other 5-star establishments in Salcete like Dona Sylvia Beach Resort, Radisson Blu Resort Goa, Holiday Inn Resort Goa, Royal Orchid Beach Resort & Spa and Planet Hollywood Beach Resort are also packed for October 15 and 16.
Ralph de Sousa, chairman of de Souza Group, said, “A lot of advance booking was done as heads of state of five countries along with big delegation and official press will be in Goa for BRICS Summit. As a result, all the rooms are full in the prominent hotels of the part where the event is happening.”
It was expected that hotel tariffs would shoot up around BRICS Summit as well just like the way it happened when Defence Expo took place in March this year. But, it appears that this time tariffs haven’t really shot up, as bookings were done much in advance.
Savio Messias, president, Travel & Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), said, “Ministry of External Affairs had booked rooms for BRICS Summit a long time ago and that’s the reason tariffs didn’t shoot up as was in the case of defence expo.”
de Sousa continued, “The other important difference is defence expo was an exhibition. A lot of exhibitors and businessmen booked late, which pushed up the tariffs.
