While details of the incident were sketchy as the security manager was at the Porvorim police station late Sunday night, sources told The Goan that the clashes erupted following a disagreement over the parking of a car at the mall. According to a source, a car owner tried to park on the highway outside the mall, when the security personnel told the driver not to park his vehicle on the highway, as police had instructed them not to allow parking of cars along the highway. The car driver reportedly became aggressive and assaulted the security. Another security then confronted the driver over the incident, when he too was assaulted. The security guards and some people then clashed with the car driver, damaging some property of the mall in the process. While officials of the mall were unable to give details into the incident, the mall s security manager was at the police station late Sunday night to file a complaint in the matter. When contacted, Porvorim police were reluctant to provide details as an FIR was yet to be lodged in the matter.
