Goa Police were left red-faced as the Sagar Kavach operation caught the men-in-uniform, who were deployed at the Hospicio hospital, napping.
While the police team deployed at Hospicio did not spare anyone, including men, women and children visiting the hospital, they, however, found to their shock and surprise that the designated person not only managed to give them the slip, but even managed to plant the bomb parcel right inside the police control room at the hospital premises.
The police team manning the gate and frisking the visitors were a bundle of nerves as acting in-charge of Margao police station, PI Harish Madkaikar and PSI Vishwajit Chodankar arrived at the hospital and found to their embarrassment the bomb parcel in the police control room, thus exposing chinks in the police security.
PI Madkaikar, who was monitoring the Sagar Kavach operation in the city, including the district Collectorate, tried to down play the Hospicio incident, saying that the police team have been asked to remain alert through the entire two-day operation.
