Anjuna’s famed flea market in all its glory may well be coming alive once again. This time, at Arambol beach located around 35 kms from Panaji.

The Arambol beach is in many ways what Anjuna was some decades back, where the spirit of the flea market originally blossomed and grew.

Over the last couple of years, foreign tourists and several foreign long-term settlers in and around Arambol appear to have reignited the flea market passions once again.

A couple of hundred foreign tourists, a huge number of them women, come together and set up temporary base at the Junaswada stretch of the beach, selling their unique ware to tourists and buyers, several of whom are foreigners themselves.

This has now evolved into a great place to browse and buy unique trinkets, artifacts, stone-encrusted jewellery, used books, musical instruments and sports gear. Many of the trinkets, handicrafts and leather goods, are tooled by foreigners themselves after their respective passions. This is perhaps the only place in Goa where you can see foreigners playing musical instruments and doffing their hats around as a token of appreciation.

The best time to get here is around six pm, when you find the action at this informal market really going.
